Final Assigment: Independent Project-- Complete!

Yay! I'm all done with my two-sided Visual Book ^__^

I fixed the edges and sanded the glue off ( well tried to anyway...)

Hopefully this will be the last time I have to post something up here...

^__^ Bye-Bye!

Final Assigment: Independent Project-- RESEARCH pt 2

Okay, this is the second part of my research for my Visual Book.

I went to the library on Friday and Lucy helped me with my research. ^__^

She gave me this book called Visual Rocks. It features how some music videos from chosen bands were made, and in what ways their videos communicate with others.

I know Visual Rocks may not be an actual Visual Book, but the way they presented the scenes from certain music videos were very similar to the way I’m presenting my book, for example: there are many different parts to each medium, but when put together, they form one big story.

I like the idea of viewing my book as if it were on film. It will be a good way to connect each section of the book together.

I hope this works… I am trying… -__-

Final Assigment: Independent Project-- RESEARCH

In terms of research that when along with my final project I had to remember where I had originally got my idea to draw in sequence.

One of my favorite artists is a guy called Bleedman from deviantART. He does comics of cartoon characters in the Anime art style, and he just started his newest comic called SugarBits (Original story).

My book is based on Bleedman's process of drawing except it is done in traditional media, and it's more than four steps. ^^;

Original Picture Source

I really wish I knew how to use Painter 9... I have it... no idea how to use it... O__O

If you have any comments on what else I should add to this, feel free to tell me!

Final Assigment: Independent Project-- Proposal

Okay, I deleted my earlier Final Assignment Proposal because I really needed to fix it… I hope this one is better

Anyway to continue, here's the Proposal for my independent project-- Another book. Like my last book it will fold out and has two sides. The theme is Process.

It's pretty much based on the process of how I color something...

I was able to connect this book to one aspect of time design: Chronology. I choose Chronology because the events in book my have a certain order in which they go by. I think it’s a pretty linear order.

This book is also an example of “Divergence” because in order to look in inside you have to move it apart.

It is separated into two parts (the front & the back) with eight pages, so it equals sixteen pages.

Anyway here's the process in eight steps:

  • Blank page
  • Start sketch
  • Finish sketch
  • Start inking
  • Finish inking
  • Start flat colors
  • Finish flat colors
  • Final details-- DONE

Materials

  • Book Board
  • Glue Gun
  • Elmer’s Glue
  • 18’ x 24’ paper
  • Pencils
  • Colored Pencils
  • Tracing Paper
  • Prismacolor Markers
  • Gel pens

'Kay that's about it...

Assignment 9? (pt 1):" Three Minutes of my Life"

This is my storyboard for my (hopefully) soon to be first finished movie.

The plot is pretty simple:

~

I'm asleep, the phone rings.

I get up, answer the phone. It's my uncle.

He asks how to delete files from his computer.

I tell him to, "right click and hit then delete".

He thanks me, I go back to bed.

He calls again... He says, "It didn't work".

I ask him, "did you right click"?

He thanks me, again. I go back to bed, again.

But my alarm clock rings and I have to get up for school. :(

THE END :/

~

Please the excuse crappy-ness of the storyboard... I spent like five minutes or less on it. ^^;
Hopefully the movie will be up next week... Hopefully :P

Assignment #(?): Animation: "Adam n Tari Flash"

I decided to repost this because of all the freakin' tests -__-;

Anyway, these are my two white blood cell characters: Adam and Tari. Tari is the cousin of the main character in the story I'm making. Adam is a zombie white blood cell who's limbs are always randomly falling off. It is a running gag between Adam and Tari for Adam's head to fall off and for Tari to randomly be there when it happens. Because frankly, it really freaks her out. ^__^ When Adam's head flies off he's not dead, he's just doing what he always does. ^__^

Enjoy! ^__^

Assignment 3: Visual Book pt 2

Mine is probably really crappy compared to everyone else's but, I worked really hard on it, so at least I'm proud of it.

Assignment 3: Visual Book pt 1

Okay I hope I’m doing this correctly… forgive me if I’m not >.<

~

The book that I want to do is technically an example of “Divergence” because in order to look in inside you have to move it apart.

My book will consist mainly of 8 parts, which includes a description for the other 7 parts. The book itself will be one large folded over paper attached to two book boards and will fold out to form one big picture.

The main theme of my book is Growth and is based on the colored braids in my hair. It is unknown fact the each year I add another color to my hair. Each braid and color represents a theme of that year and something I learned. For each part there are roots in the background that eventually, in the final part (which represents the present) connects all the roots to a flower.

Parts:

  • Twin Snakes
  • New Beginnings
  • New Lessons
  • The Other Side
  • End of the Beginning
  • New Beginnings part 2
  • Destiny is subject to change without notice
  • Description

(I might get rid of the words… except for the last one)

Materials

  • Book Board
  • Glue Gun
  • Elmer’s Glue
  • 18’ x 24’ paper
  • Pencils
  • Colored Pencils
  • Prismacolor Markers
  • Gel pens

Please tell me if you have any other ideas… Thank you

Assignment 2: word and Image

On Tuesday January 30, 2007 our class attended the art show “Super Visions” at the ICA. It was very interesting to say the least. The artwork was very unique, the likes of which I had never seen before.

One of the questions we were to answer is: “Which artist chose mythological or “superhuman vision” themes to tell a story or communicate a message?

I chose the artist Jeff Koons’ piece “Rabbit” which was created in 1986. I believe Koon chose Mythology as a theme for his piece because a rabbit is quite simply “identifiable and readable by a wide audience.

We also had to create 5 concept sketches in relation to Mythology. To be blunt, I think my sketches are horrible and do not capture the theme of Mythology… but I tried.

Assignment 1: Elements and Aspects of Design

Yay, first post. ^__^

Anyway moving on…

~

Explanation of assignment:

The point of this first assignment was to focus on the six time elements: Tempo, Intensity, Setting, Chronology, Scope, and Duration. Each group was in charge of showing some form of film, animation, etc., in DVD format presenting these six elements in 6-7 minutes. My group however, decided to split up the elements, so that each of us would be responsible for explaining two of the six elements. I explained the two elements scope and duration.

Definitions:

Scope is basically when the camera is focused on a certain part of a scene instead of whole area where it takes place.

Duration is how long something runs for.

The DVD I choose to present (which I did a terrible job on) was the Japanese animation or Anime, “Excel Saga, volume 6: Going Way Too Far”, specifically the end of episode 23.

Summery of the scene:

The scene takes place in the ruins of F city, F prefecture of Japan. The main character, Excel desperately tries to get the attention of her boss (who she is pathetically smitten with), by constantly babbling and banging her hands on the door of his fortress, to the point of which her bleeds. When her boss, Ilpalozzo, finally does emerge from the fortress, he wears an emotionless expression. Excel then, happily continues her blathering, but is cut shot short when Ilpalozzo pulls out a gun and proceeds to shoot her with it. The bullet wounds critically and she bleeds profusely. Before she completely collapses, Excel reaches up and weakly calls out to Ilpalozzo. In turn, Ilpalozzo’s response is to look down at her for a short moment then turn to leave her to die in the desert.

Scope in this scene:

  • A close up of Excel’s hands pounding on the fortress doors.
  • A close up of Ilpalozzo’s impassive expression.
  • A close up of Excel's bloody hand after she has been shot.

These are examples of Scope because the “camera” zooms in on a specific point as opposed to the whole area the scene takes place in.

Duration in this scene:

  • The duration of time in which the shooting sequence takes place is made to look longer because for a brief moment the scene itself was slowed down. In reality, the time after Excel was shot was merely a few seconds.

~

Okie-Dokie… well that’s the end of my post if there is anything else I should put up please tell me. Thank you. ^__^
